In the last couple of months I have been working on a new blog module for Sitecore 6.2. It started as a small module just for my own educational purpose but ended up as one of the largest modules I created. The module is a complete rewritten blog module, based upon the functionality of the old 5.3 version. The new version supports inline editing, fieldeditors, webcontrols for custom themes and Windows Live Writer integration. This release includes two sample blogs. One with a standard theme and one custom theme which shows you how to use the custom webcontrols.

List of features

  • Windows Live Writer integration (MetaWeblog API)
  • Full frontend (inline) editing
  • Webedit ribbon (with fieldeditors)
  • CSS based themes
  • Custom themes possible (one demo included)
  • Custom webcontrols (with inline editing)
  • Comments
  • Tagging and a tagcloud
  • RSS Feeds

At this moment the module in still in betá, and I would like to hear your feedback. You can use the comments or just send me a email (mark at evident.nl). When you encounter problems, found a bug or have any other kind of feedback please let me know and I will try to reply as soon as possible.

You can find the installation package and sources on the Shared Source environment.

I am evaluating EviBlog for use in a Sitecore project. I appreciate what you’ve put together and am interested in building upon it. But I’ve some basic questions related to security/roles. May I contact you via email to discuss?

  2. hi Mark, everything OK?

i Hope you can help me out here.

I have installed the EviBlog module on a Sitecore 6.3.1 site and started blogging.
Now (a few months later) i activated the “Live writer” checkbox in sitecore and i am trying to configure the livewriter to work with the Evivblog.

    – At some point i have to select the type of blog i’m using. Here i choose the option “metaweblog API”.
    – And then livewriters asks for the “Remote posting web address for your blog”. in this textbox i entered “http://blog.mysite.develop”.
    – After waiting for a minute i get the errormessage:
“Invalid Server response – the response to the blogger.getUsersBlogs method received from the blog server was invalid”

Does my sitecore site need some additional configuration?
Should i enter another Remote posting web address?

    best regards,
    Erik

    • very good article. If Eviblog works with 3rd party authenticated users, then it would be great. Let me know if this is possible.

  3. Does the blog module permit workflow control or approval control so that the input from submitters must be approved by a controlling editor/approver?
